Overview
Introduced in 1978 and then discontinued in 1983, Korg’s MS-20 has been one of the companies most popular synthesizers made to date. After being discontinued, the easiest way to access this classic synthesizer was to purchase software emulation, or finding an original unit in reasonable condition. Almost thirty years later Korg finally recreated this beloved synthesizer in the form of the MS-20 Mini, a 14% smaller version of the original with the circuitry perfectly reproduced.
Built to tweak and play this gritty monophonic analog synthesizer is great for creating staple bass and lead sounds but stands apart because of its dual filter and semi-modular design. This gives it the ability to be able to create crazy FX, analog drums and even control the pitch of the synthesizer using a guitar through its external signal processor. Although this recreation has been updated with some new features such as; MIDI in and over USB, if you are looking at browsing through presets or saving patches, you are going to have to create your own patch book as where you move the parameters is where they stay.
